I’ve been learning to set boundaries

It’s tricky
I still want to be kind
I still want to reach out and help
It can be perplexing

There are usually signs when I know I have to set a boundary
When I don’t feel good after talking to the person
When I feel like I let out the worst in me when talking to the person
In short, when the bad outweighs the good

Like a broken record
After I set a boundary
I always tell myself
“This is for me, I am important, I am making space for myself”

This concept may change overtime
But for now, I know
I can’t always expect people to understand and change
Every individual has their values

Yet, being kind and setting boundaries can be parallel to each other
By setting boundaries, I feel happier
And it’s always easier for me to be kind to others when I’m happy
